Winter is here… and so are some of our favorite winter songs for kids!
Here you’ll find the songs and the YouTube videos, if available. And as always, the full playlist can be found on Spotify. If you need some ideas on how to use Spotify playlists for your preschool and kindergarten music classes or music therapy sessions, you might want to read this post for some ideas on how I use them. Of course, we love live music, but having a playlist of high-quality children’s songs can be very convenient and useful during transitions, games, or to give our voice some rest, etc.
On this list, you’ll find movement songs, finger plays, songs that might for for relaxation or self-regulation, and instrument songs, all surrounding the topic of winter. Don’t forget that winter can look different in different parts of the world, so the song A Winter Song by Nancy Kopman is a good one to engage kids in that discussion. If you want a song that could lead to a fill-in-the-blank activity, the song Winter Is by Linn Brown can encourage kids to talk about what winter means to them or things they do in the winter. Ring Your Bells by Stacey Peasley is a great instrument song to get your bells out. And, although not in our Spotify playlist, our song/finger play Hot Chocolate (which is one of our TOP 5 children’s songs and you can download for free here) will undoubtedly be a hit in your preschool and kindergarten music classes. Here’s a video of Hot Chocolate in which I also share some movement and implementation ideas, and a YouTube video by Miss Katie Sings who’s shared how much her students love this song. Kids will also love Light A Candle, one of our songs for mindfulness and self-regulation.
