My love for movement props is undeniable and is probably the most evident in the songs that I write about them, like my Stretchy Band song, “Stretch It Out”, which is my favorite movement prop. Movement props can be really fun for kids and they also support movements, concepts, skills, exploration, imagination and our student’s or client’s creativity.

Movement scarves in particular are very practical and have different uses in my classes, and I also like that you can throw them in the washing machine on delicate, air-dry them and they're just like as good as new. My favorite scarves are from Bear Paw Creek who are also the makers of the Stretchy Band and my all-time favorite type of scarf, the 9-foot Canopy Scarf— yes, it’s huge! Today I’m sharing with you 10 scarf songs for preschool and kindergarten music time, perfect to share with your elementary music students and clients or during your next movement break with scarves on your early childhood music classes. What I like about scarves is that they're see-through. Especially for younger kids, (and if you’re singing songs like my song “Peekaboo”) scarves provide a level of safety and comfort for most kids to be able to put something on their head and “hide” with it when they can also see through it.
