10 Fall Songs In Spanish For Kids

Latinx/Hispanic Heritage month coincides with the start of the fall season here in the United States, and bringing songs by Latino/e artists, singing in the Spanish language, and learning about the different Latin American countries and their traditions (seasonal or year-round) can be some of the ways in which we can honor and appreciate the Latin American ancestry and cultures.

We want to contribute to that celebration on this blog post, highlighting and sharing some children songs about autumn in Spanish. You’ll find that these songs are sung by Latine artists, they might be folk songs, or they have been written/adapted to celebrate bilingualism (English & Spanish).

Lyrics

En Otoño las hojitas
de los árboles se caen,
Llega el viento, las levanta
Y se ponen a bailar. Tra-la-la, tra-la-la, tra-la-la

En Otoño las hojitas
de los árboles se caen,
Viene el viento, las levanta
Y se ponen a marchar. Y parar. [and stop]

En Otoño las hojitas
de los árboles se caen,
Viene el viento, las levanta
Y se ponen a brincar. Toi, toi, toi, toi, toi, toi, toi!

En Otoño las hojitas
de los árboles se caen,
Viene el viento, las levanta
Y se ponen a correr. Rápido van, rápido van, rápido, rápido, rápido van!

Translated to English

In October the little leaves

of the trees fall down.

Then wind comes by and whooshed them away

And they started to [dance, march, jump, run really fast]

*Tra-la-la & Toi, toi, toi are onomatopoeic words to depict the movement

6. Pisando Hojitas

by Agua Clara & Cía.

Translated to English

I’m walking, stepping on leaves,

it’s autumn who’s visiting us.

Some [leaves] are big, some are little,

wrinkly and yellow.

But the wind soon arrived,

it opened its mouth and ate them!

Lyrics

Voy caminando, pisando hojitas,

es el otoño que nos visita.

Algunas grandes, otras chiquitas,

muy arrugadas y amarillitas.

Pero el viento pronto llegó,

¡abrió la boca y se las tragó!

7. Carnavalito De Las Hojas

by Bárbara Prósperi & Gabriel Silva

Lyrics

Vuelan las hojas al caer desde los árboles

Se remolinan con el viento, llega el otoño otra vez.

¡Ay qué colores hermosos tienen las hojitas!

Grandes, pequeñas, juntaremos todas las mañanitas.

Translated to English

The leaves fly when they fall down from the trees

They get whooshed away by the wind, autumn has arrived once again.

Oh, how beautiful the colors of all the little leaves!

Big, small, we will gather them all together every morning.
