I get hundreds of questions on Instagram and Facebook about songwriting, supporting kids and their sensory needs, marketing yourself on social media, and other topics related to being a music therapist and/or music educator.
But, do you want to know what my MOST frequently asked question is?
“How do I get a good quality recording with minimal equipment?”
Now we have a resource to help you do just that!!
DIY Recording is our brand new mini course by Berklee College of Music - trained recording engineer Jenn Mundia, who will show you how to create a high-quality recording using TWO THINGS: a USB mic and GarageBand.
If you have yet to meet my friend Jenn, you have definitely heard her and her work. Her vocals and recordings have been featured on commercial spots for companies like Google, Ulta, and LinkedIn. When I was watching the most recent Olympics on Peacock I had to text her... "WAS THAT YOU?!" Yes, yes it was.
The incredible part about it is that she is literally recording this stuff in her home studio. So it makes a musician like me go “Okay, I can do this. I can do these high quality recordings from my home.” And you can do so, too.
Jenn is a Los Angeles based artist, vocalist, and audio engineer who will walk you through the simplest possible studio setup and recording process that can produce a clean, crisp, and polished recording you can be proud of.
What do you need to get a high-quality recording a home?
A USB mic (we like this $100 Blue Yeti) and GarageBand**. (And if you’re getting a little fancier, some nice headphones.) That’s it.
**GarageBand is a music creation software exclusive to Apple therefore, this course is recommended for Mac users.
Music therapist? Music educator? Use these simple recording techniques to support your clients and students in a brand new way. Write and record a song, explore simple mixing techniques, let your client produce a song from start to finish… the possibilities are endless.
This is a SIMPLE, quick mini-course that will have you recording in no time.
you get a professional development certificate, too
Music therapists and educators can get 2 professional development credits (not pre-approved, but we'll give you a certificate to self-submit).
Don’t just hear it from me
