What better way to teach kids about our community than through music? Learning about the community and the people that makes it, can foster empathy, can helps kids understand the different roles and importance of different people living or working together in the same area.
Here are some of my favorite songs to teach kids about the community that surrounds them. We might talk and sing about community helpers like nurses, sanitation workers, teachers and music therapists (😉). We can ask children to talk about the people that live in their community, what they do or what their role is. This can also be a great opportunity to discuss about what they want to be when they grow up and how they will like to help the community.
